Viking-age woman by Aspova Viking-age woman by Aspova
This costume is the kind that was used by noble women in Finland during the iron-age.

The costume consists of a plain dress of white linen under a plain white dress of wool, over both white dresses comes a peplos-dress fastened with round bronze buckles over the shoulders. Between the buckles is two chains of brass and a leather strap with glass beads. Around the waist there is a tablet-woven belt with forged scissors. A simple scarf covers the head. The costume has a pair of leather shoes as well.

I have sewn all three dresses and the scarf by hand out of bought fabrics. The shoes I have sewn by hand out of bought leather. The chains i made out of brass wire. The bronze buckles, the scissors, the tablet woven belt and the glass beads was made by other craftsmen. Photo was taken by me.

I only have two more photos that are very similar to this one.
A price.. Hmmm... :D Complicated, maybe I would need a official company to sell it through, still its hard to set a price, depends a lot of price of fabrics and how much is sewn by hand.
But actually I would prefer, since this is only my hobby and not my work (yet), to instruct you to make your own costume, you can contact me on email (valter.aspo(at)gmail.com), and I can send you details on how I made these dresses, for free. :)

Ooh, splendid! Gorgeous! One does not often get to see the Eastern Viking Age "fashions", and this is so very well done! Lovely, well done indeed! /Gotlander

Thank you! :) It is nice how such a simple piece of fabric can be transformed into a dress with just the buckles and a belt!
